October 2003
Cleveland CitiRama With A Green FlavorThere were green ideas in place in many of the homes being built on Linwood Avenue in Cleveland for the first inner-city CitiRama sponsored by the Home Builders of Cleveland, September 27-October 5, 2003. Bill Hahn of Horizon Builders made the most serious effort to achieve a green designation (using the Built Green Colorado Checklist as his guide). The house is shown at left; click on the image for a larger photo. John Lynch, another builder who is using a super energy-efficient Tech-Built building envelope is also making significant strides toward a comprehensive green home. Many of the other homes are demonstrating components of green building such as Structural Insulated Panels, NFRC rated windows, cementious sidings, decking made of recycled plastics and wood fibers, etc. Linwood Ave. is just north of Chester Ave. and off E. 55th St. in Hough. The homes which are not yet sold are open by appointment with realtors who are marketing each house. We will feature Bill’s house in an upcoming edition of this website.
